About us

Our Mission

PBJ4KIDS exists to Provide a Better Journey for kids in foster care by creating positive, life-changing experiences that foster healing, hope, and belonging. Through our trauma-informed programs, including summer camps, mentorship, and year-round support, we are committed to meeting the emotional, relational, and spiritual needs of foster children. Rooted in compassion and driven by a deep desire to bring joy and stability, we strive to empower every child to overcome their past, embrace their potential, and build a brighter future filled with love and opportunity. Together, we are transforming lives and creating lasting memories for children who deserve nothing less.

Our Team

At PBJ4KIDS, our team of trauma-trained volunteers embodies the heart and soul of our mission, serving as the hands and feet of the community in providing a better journey for children in foster care. Equipped with specialized training to address the unique challenges of childhood trauma, these dedicated individuals offer compassion, understanding, and stability to kids who need it most. From creating safe and joyful camp experiences to fostering trust through mentorship and ongoing support, our volunteers go above and beyond to make every child feel seen, valued, and loved. Together, they reflect the community’s commitment to bringing hope, healing, and lasting positive memories to the lives of foster children.

Renee Schuppe

I am one of the Executive directors of PBJ4Kids, and I have dedicated over a decade to volunteering with organizations like ours, advocating for children in the foster care system. My personal journey as a foster parent, and ultimately adopting my son through the foster system, has deeply shaped my commitment to creating positive change for children in need. I am blessed to be the proud mother of six amazing children and share my life with a loving husband who shares my passion for the foster care community. Together, our family is driven by the mission to “Provide a Better Journey for children in foster care,” and we are dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of these children and families.

Brooklyn Gutowsky

I  am one of the board members of PBJ4Kids, and I have been part of our team for over 3 years. I love being around children and I have volunteered in the past with VBS programs and mission trips, so it was a no brainer for me to contribute to my local community! I am passionate about this and I truly enjoy spending time with foster children in our immediate area. This is an incredible cause and organization and I’m blessed to be a part of it. Between our yearly summer camp and mentorship program, we strive to have a life changing impact on all of the children we volunteer for. I look forward to continuing to support our local children with our mission of “Providing a better journey for kids in care”.
